The hat is crocheted with single crochet stitches, two strands held together, and x-stitches. It is important that the whole hat is crocheted with x-stitches to get the right shape, size and gauge.
First, the top is crocheted with gradual increases. Then the chart pattern is crocheted, before the hat is finished with a brim.

Measure around the widest part of the head.
Medium: 55–58 cm
Large/XL: 59–62 cm

Recommended crochet hook: 3.5 mm

10 cm = 18 stitches horizontally and 15 stitches vertically
Make a gauge swatch – important!
If you get too many stitches over 10 cm, go up half a hook size. If you get too few stitches over 10 cm, go down half a hook size.
